Obituary

C. Michael Meyer, 53, of Meyersville, went to heaven on October 3, 2017 in the loving arms of his wife and surrounded by his family at home. He was born July 31, 1964 to Sonny and Helen Meyer in Refugio, Texas. Our family has truly lost a GREAT, "one of a kind" man with a HUGE, genuine heart. We know God needed you more, as you proved to us by your courageous and unwavering faith in "God's will be done". To say Mike touched many lives and changed them for the better is an understatement. Because of him, we will all live richer lives and hopefully be able to follow his path in making everyone's smile a little bigger, shine a little brighter, and always live life to the fullest. One of his favorite sayings was "Here's the thing or here's the deal" and we all came to respect his knowledge, integrity, and tenacity. If you ever needed something Mike was always there for you. He was your ace in the hole, your best backup, your gentle compassionate friend, and could be your pillar of strength when needed. He had a smile that would truly light up the room and the magical quality that made you feel you were instantly his friend. If you were lucky enough to be around him, he would just grab you and take you along in his amazing journey through life. He was an avid and fiercely competitive outdoorsman and those many hunting, fishing, and boating adventures were always filled with Mike's knack of ensuring everyone shared many good laughs. When Mike and his buddies got together, the good times just flowed. Mike was well known for his work ethic starting at age 13 in his dad's tire shop in Refugio, and going on to become a well respected presence in the oil field ending his career at EOG Resources. To be part of Mike's world, you could tell how much he loved his family and how proud he was of his children. His face would beam as he talked about their accomplishments. Mike's greatest passion in life was his family. Thank you, Mike, for filling us with love and blessing us with all the wonderful adventures and memories that will last a lifetime. You will always hold a special place in our hearts. Keep us warm with your smile and blanket us with your presence in our dreams. We know Heaven became brighter when you entered the gates.

Mike is survived by his wife, Tammy Blain Meyer of Meyersville; sons, Justin Meyer (James Douglas), Mason Meyer, and Brighton Blain; daughter, Madison Meyer; grandson, Andrick Douglas; brother, Jerry Pruett; and many close family and friends, including his nieces and nephews he truly loved.

He was preceded in death by his parents Sonny and Helen Meyer and brother, Gary Alvin Pruett.

Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. on Sunday, October 8, 2017 at Freund Funeral Home Chapel in Cuero.
