Obituary

Mildred Katherine Henneke, 85 of Cuero quietly passed away on Tuesday, June 9, 2015 in her home. Katie was born February 2, 1930 in San Antonio to Amonette "Burle" and Emily Henrietta Kalies Souter. She became a registered nurse working in the local hospitals and attended Grace Lutheran Church where she met her husband, William Henry Henneke. After raising five children, William and Katie moved to Arneckeville, TX, following their son, Gary. She was an avid homemaker, gardener who blessed many with her cake designs. Prompted by her daughter, Jaye, the family became involved in organic practices and as active advocates grew to include poultry and grass-fed beef. Her great joy was her four dogs who went with her everywhere.

She is preceded in death by her husband, William Henry Henneke and daughter, Bea Jan Virge.

Survivors are daughters: Dee Ann Henneke [Robert Rainey, deceased], Gaye Lynn Hough, Jaye Rynn Henneke, and son: Gary Van [Shirley] Henneke. In addition, her grandchildren are: Travis Hough, Arron "Reagan" [Jennifer] Hough, Elizabeth Henneke, and Julia Henneke; and great-grandchildren: Logan, Bryce, and Abigail Hough.

Visitation will be Saturday, June 13, 2015 at Freund Funeral Home from 6-7:30 pm. Funeral service will be at Zion Lutheran Cemetery on Sunday, June 14, 2015 at 2 pm.

Memorial contributions can be made to Zion Lutheran Church or the charity of the donor's choice in honor of Mildred "Katy" Henneke.
