Obituary

Milton M. "Bud" Hobbs, 63, of Yorktown, formerly of Inez, went home to Jesus on Wednesday, October 5, 2011. He was born January 5, 1948 in Refugio to the late Monroe Gene Hobbs and Sadie Pauline Edwards Hobbs. Bud served in the U.S. Army from 1968 to 1970 and received a National Defense Service Medal. He married Lynda Walton on July 23, 1971 at White Rock Methodist Church in Dallas. He volunteered as a Victoria County Reserve Sherriff in the 70's and was a member of the First Sherriff's/Police SWAT Team. He was a member of the NRA and a member of Faith Family Church in Victoria. He was employed as a pipeline inspector for Union Carbide/Dow Chemical, Seadrift Pipeline Division from 1987 to April, 2011 when he retired and took a position with Pro Plus.


Bud is survived by his loving wife, Lynda; son, Monroe Hobbs of Needville; daughter, Lisa Hobbs Martin of Cuero; five grandchildren, Monroe, Marshal, and Olivia Hobbs from Needville and Dakota Lassmand and Taylor Martin of Cuero; one sister, Patsy Davis; and one brother, Don Hobbs. Bud was preceded in death by his parents.


A celebration of life memorial service will be held at D & E Party Barn at 783 Old Refugio Road, Victoria, TX 77905, on October 14th at 3 p.m. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to South Texas Hospice.


Honorary pallbearers are Jimmy Montag, Chuck Grimes, Robert Schroeder, Robert Johnston, Robert Valenta, Harvey Petru, Harold Hermann, and Rick Savage.
