Mozelle Henry, age
89, passed away June 22, 2010.
She was born Jan. 28, 1921 in
Whitney and had been a
resident at Cuero Nursing &
Rehabilitation Center.
Mozelle was predeceased by
her husband, Leonard H.
Henry. They were married for
62 years. Mozelle was also
predeceased by one daughter,
Gayle Lynn Henry.
Mozelle is survived by her
daughter and son-in-law,
Jackie and Jay Schlinger of
Terryville, and her daughter
and son-in-law, Mary Sue and
Donnie Garrison of Cuero. She
is survived by her
grandchildren, Daniel
Womack, Katelin Boles, and
Jonette Schlinger, and three
great-grandchildren, Riley,
Cooper and Tanner. She is also
survived by one sister,
Charlotte Loving, and one
brother, Donald Marsh.
Mozelle loved sports but
especially enjoyed basketball
and played on her high school
basketball team. At age 21,
Mozelle traveled to Orange
where she met and married
her husband, Leonard Henry.
Always active in a home
church, together they worked
with the young married couples
and taught Sunday school.
Mozelle worked with the G.A.
organization and various
women's ministries.
Mozelle was a homemaker for
many years. When she began
her career, it was as a
switchboard operator with Mid-
Jefferson County Hospital.
While working the night shift,
she pursued additional
education and training. When
she retired, she held a
managerial position in the
accounting department with
the hospital.
Mozelle loved being outdoors
and could often be found
working in her garden always
tending to her plants. Mozelle
also loved to can fruit and gave
away many jars of canned figs,
pears and peaches. She also
loved sugar cookies, cobblers,
pies and many other sweets.
A memorial service will be
held at 2 p.m. Saturday, June
26, at First Baptist Church of
Cuero. Immediately following
the service, a visitation time
will be held in the parlor.
Memorial contributions may
be made to the Mission
Committee at the First Baptist
Church of Cuero or to Accolade
Hospice in Yoakum.
