Myrna was born in Gonzales, TX to Rose Lee Murray and Phillip Lucullus Mangum. She was much-adored and taught early by her grandfather to ride, strut and cuss like a man. She rode her horse, Colty, all over the Texas countryside and so developed a lifelong aversion to walking. But she loved going places.
She met her husband Fred at Trinity University in San Antonio and they raised Fred, Jr., Dana and Bob in Corpus Christi and Odessa. They camped all over the West and up to Alaska, sometimes taking Boy Scouts and Camp Fire Girls along too. Fred liked to hunt, which Myrna learned to do so she wouldn't miss out on the adventure.
She taught school at Permian High and then found great satisfaction and success managing the employment agencies she and Fred opened in Texas over the next twenty years.
She and Fred retired in 1988 and fifth-wheeled all over the US and traveled all over the world. Fred said her name was "Myrna Go Hansler" when they started and changed to just "Go Myrna Go" as time went on. When he died in '98 she kept going and drove her motor home to Oregon and beyond.
She lived alone for many years with her dogs and her guns-feeding the wildlife and visiting family and friends. She was an only child but leaves many grandchildren and great grandchildren behind. She was bossy, generous and touched many lives. She will be sorely missed.
