Obituary

Nina Virginia Culpepper Ramsey was born on March 27, 1918 in a little settlement called "Denhawken" Texas in Wilson County. She was picked by the angels to go to her long awaited home on January 18, 2013. Nina was one of 9 children born to Matthew and Lela Hawk Culpepper. There is one remaining sister, Joy Welch of Mission, Texas.

Nina attended school in Stockdale where she graduated High School.
She married W. W. Luker and they had two daughters, Jo Beth and Bonnie. The family moved to Cuero in 1938, where she has lived most of her life. Nina moved to the Valley to live with her sister and family. She lived there for about 20 years where she first worked for Sunny Glen Children's Home as a house mother, then for Valley Shamrock Oil & Gas for 18 years. She retired and moved back to Cuero. In 1985 she married Herbert Ramsey. They had a wonderful time traveling and entertaining their family for 11 years.

She has been a faithful member of the Church of Christ all of her adult life and went to every service, rain or shine. She dearly loved her family both physical and spiritual and loved to cook for them, visit with them, and play dominoes and cards. You were always welcome at her home and at her table.

She is survived by her daughters, Bonnie Dutton and husband, Phil, of Dayton, and Jo Beth Smith and husband, Richard, of Cuero; sons, Herb Ramsey, Jr. and wife, Valarie, and Charles Ramsey; 17 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and 6 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Herbert Ramsey, son, Monty Ramsey, and great-grandson, Clinton Davis.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, January 22, 2013, at 10:30 a.m. at Freund Funeral Home. Services will follow at 2:00 p.m. at Church of Christ with Trevor Parker and Johner Martin officiating. Interment will follow at Hillside Cemetery.
