Obituary

Norma Jane "Nonie" Farr was born March 17, 1941 to the late Ernest Weldon and Lois Mildred Cogburn Farr. She was raised in Ft. Worth and was always extremely proud of being a cowtown girl. She graduated from Amon Carter high School in 1959 and, in 1961, embarked upon the career of her dreams as an American Airlines flight attendant. She was based in Los Angeles, San Francisco and Dallas-Ft. Worth during her forty-two years with American Airlines. While she experienced many significant events, including 9/11, her most memorable flying occurred in the late '60's when she flew Military Airlift Command or, in airline parlance, MAC trips. The 707 charters transported troops between major U.S. hubs and bases in the Pacific, in her case Kadena Air Force Base, Okinawa. From there the crew would ferry GI's in and out of Da Nang, Viet Nam. Those young men would forever be Nonie's most precious passengers. She retired from American Airlines in 2002 and began spending her most enjoyable years at her beloved farm in south Texas. There she was in her element and created some of her most notable artwork.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ernie and Lois; her sweet MaMaw Farr and close confidants and friends, Sandra Pullin and Lynn Morgan.

She is survived by her longtime partner of forty-two years, Trish Griffith; sister, Linda Croker (Gary); nephew, Darren Heppel; niece, Jerrilynn Heppel Lowenthal; the Pullin/Thomas family and many other family and friends.

A celebration of Nonie's life will be held at Freund Funeral Home on Thursday, March 12, 2026 at 2:00 PM. A private burial will be held at a later date at La Rosa cemetery in Woodsboro.

The family would like to express their gratitude to Home Instead, Hospice of South Texas Dornburg Center of Compassion in Victoria and Advanced Home Health of Hallettsville for their loving care and friendship.
