Oliver "Brother" Carter, 94, of Goliad, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 25, 2009 in Trinity. He was born March 13, 1915, in Charco, to the late Amelia Miller and Oliver Carter. He was ranch manager for the Webb/Luker ranch where he was born the only son of six daughters hence the name "Brother". He was a World War II veteran serving the U.S. Army Battery B 434th Field Artillery Batallion in Northern France, Ardennes, Rhineland, and Central Europe. He was awarded the American Theatre Campaign Medal, EAME Campaign Medal with 4 Bronze Stars, Good Conduct Medal, and the WWII Victory Medal. He was a well known domino player at the Weesatche Bar and Café.
He is survived by his sister, Wanda Linville of Victoria, and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and sisters, Annie Mae Gerbert, Lillian Gips, Faye Dell Kiel, Lucille Williams, and Bonnie Kenne.
Visitation will be 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday, Nov. 30 at Freund Funeral Home in Cuero. A graveside service will follow at 2 p.m. at Hillside Cemetery in Cuero with Terry Brown officiating.
Pallbearers are A.C. Kenne, Stephen Kenne, Kristina Kenne Cooper, Melvin Luker, Randy Luker, Russell Luker, and Glenwood Williams.
Honorary pallbearers are his nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Weesatche VFD.
