Ollie Mae Shaffner, 94, of Alvin passed away Monday, May 27, 2019. She was born May 17, 1925 in Cuero to the late William L. and Leona White Hennesey. She married Eugene Howard Shaffner on November 27, 1951 in Houston. Although Ollie was born and raised in Cuero, she and Eugene moved to Alvin in the 60's where they would remain and become long term residents. Ollie worked as a welder in the war plant during World War II. She was a loving housewife for 57 years as she and Eugene raised six children together. She also sang and recorded songs for her family and friends.
She is survived by her daughters, Billie (Charlie) Brown of Nacogdoches, Tresa (Bobby) Ober of Alvin, Pamela (John) Matlock of Liverpool and Nita (Jimmy) Judge of Alvin; sons, Pat (Cindy) Shaffner of Manvel and Ray (Lori) Shaffner of Alvin; sister, Annie McElroy of Cuero; fifteen grandchildren; twenty-one great grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 57 years, Eugene; daughter, Loise Jean Shaffner; son in law, Jimmy Judge; her parents; sister, Lorena Cox; and brothers, Bill and Joe Hennesey.
Visitation was held Wednesday, May 29, 2019, 10 a.m. at Freund Funeral Home in Cuero. Funeral Services began at 11a.m. where Pastor Michael King officiated. Interment followed at Hillside Cemetery.
Pallbearers include Stacy Harris, Austin Harris, Willy Pennington, Bradley Pennington, Earnie Matlock and Bubba Cox.
