Obituary

Paula Jane Grubb High, 86, of Cuero passed away Tuesday, February 01, 2011 in Cuero. She was born July 9, 1924 to the late Stanley and Eunice Mattie Vineyard Grubb. She married Dr. Harold Rutledge High on December 7, 1947 in Canton and they made Cuero their home in 1955. She received her Bachelor of Arts at the University of Texas. Paula was a Founder of DeWitt Wildflower Association, a life member of Cuero Hospital Auxiliary, a life member of University of Texas Association, a member of First Baptist Church in Cuero, Founder of Desk & Derrick of Houston, and a member of the Warm Springs Rehabilitation Foundation Board of Directors in Victoria.

She is survived by her son, Harold R. 'Ace' High II and wife, Karen; granddaughter, Renice High Dozier and husband, Nelson; and grandson, H. Rutledge High III.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband of 62 years; daughter, Karon High; brother, Bill Grubb; and sister, Sue Harrison.

Visitation will be Thursday, February 3, 2011 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Freund Funeral Home. Services will be held Friday, February 4, 2011, 2 p.m., at First Baptist Church, Cuero with Dr. Glenn Robertson officiating. Interment will follow at Hillside Cemetery.

Pallbearers will include Rutledge High, Nelson Dozier, Doug Sethness, Herb Lancaster, William Finney, and Jay Bramlette.
Memorial contributions may be made to First Baptist Church, Cuero or the DeWitt Medical Foundation.
