Porfirio Serna, 81, of Flatonia, passed away Sunday, February 18, 2018. He was born February 6, 1937 in Cuero to the late Jose Serna Sr. and Bertha Anzaldua Serna. Porfirio was also known by his family and friends by "Camel" and "Uncle Jimmy." He was a hardworking, no nonsense kind of man. Porfirio worked for his good friend, Billy Sellers and family, at the family business, Seller Lease Services Inc., for 38 years operating heavy equipment, repairing pumps, and making deliveries. He also worked on the family farm buying and feeding the catfish and enjoyed taking time to enjoy fishing as well. Most recently, Porfirio was a hot shot driver, kept the office and grounds clean, and had the important job of keeping the drink fridge full for the employees.
Porfirio is survived by his daughter, Gloria (Ken) Lopez of Cuero; sons, Nathaniel Serna of Wealder and Matthew (Rebeka) Serna of Nordheim; sister, Tillie Trevino of Cuero; brother, Richard Serna of Pasadena; and grandchildren, Alexis Lopez, Mason Lopez, Kyle Serna, Nathaniel Serna II, Joshua Serna, Nickolas Serna, Brandon Serna, and Jada Serna.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Dora Cessor; brothers, Marvin Serna Sr. and Joe Serna Jr.; niece, Debbie Trevino; nephew, Eloyd Trevino Jr.
The visitation will be held Friday, February 23, 2018 at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church with the Rosary being prayed at 10:30 a.m. The funeral service will immediately follow at 11 a.m. with Father Jacob Mendoza officiating.
