R.D. McFarland "Judge Mc" 78 years old father, husband, police officer, and retired judge died October 26 ,2012. He was born on August 16, 1934 to H.V. and Leona McFarland in Leander Texas.
Served in the US Navy during the Korean Conflict and was honorably discharged after his four year tour.
Upon returning from the service Mc became a certified police officer and went to work for the Austin PD as a motorcycle policeman for 5 years. He then retired after 23 years of service with the Liquor Control Board, now known as the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission. His final tenure was as Judge for City of Cuero's Municipal Court, retiring after 20 years of service.
Mc loved his golfing as much as anything else in life, as well as hunting in Colorado. He was a member of the Cuero Masonic Lodge #409 A.F. & A.M. and First Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, H.V. McFarland Jr.
He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Norma McFarland, his son-in-law and daughter, Darrell and Stacy Cordes of Cuero and daughter Renea Wright of Oklahoma; brother, Jimmy Mcfarland; sisters, Wanda Harris and Sissy North, all of Meeker, Colorado.
Visitation will be held Sunday, October 28, 2012 from 4-6 at Freund Funeral Home. Private military graveside service at a later date.
