Riccardo Olguin was surrounded by loved ones as he took his final breath on Saturday, February 10, 2024 at the age of 87. He was born February 7, 1937 in Cuero to Manuel and Nicolasa Eschavarria Olguin. For 30 years of his life, he worked for the City of Cuero as a truck driver. Riccardo was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, where he played the guitar in the choir and served as a Guadalupano for more than half of his life. In his free time he loved to go fishing, watch old western movies, making everyone laugh, and spend time with his family.
He is survived by his daughters, Ofelia (Ruben) Madrigal, Amanda Olguin, Lydia (Randy) Castro and Rosemary Olguin; his sons, Johnny (Dolores) Olguin, Guillermo W. Olguin and Eugene W, Olguin; twenty-two grandchildren; forty-five great-grandchildren and seven great-great grandchildren and two on the way.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Minerva Sanchez Olguin; sons, Richard Olguin Jr. and Robert Olguin; daughter, Olivia Garza and granddaughter, Laura Mungia.
Visitation will be held Thursday, February 15, 2024, 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM at Freund Funeral Home with a rosary to begin at 6:30 PM. Funeral Mass will be Friday, February 16, 2024, 10:30 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church with Father Richard Bediako officiating. Interment will follow at Hillside cemetery.
Pallbearers include Angel Olguin, Mark Olguin, Eric Castro, Raynaldo Madrigal, Johnathan Madrigal and D'Ary Patton.
Honorary Pallbearers include Jose Aguilar, Jessica Olguin and Devin Patton.
Memorial Contributions may be made to Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church.
