Roberto Pineda Ruiz "Motown", 71, of Cuero entered into eternal rest peacefully surrounded by his children and grandchildren on Friday, February 19, 2021. He was born on September 25, 1949 in Cuero to the late Apolonio and Nazaria Pineda Ruiz. He was a retired City of Cuero worker who enjoyed playing pool tournaments. He was a dedicated Gobbler fan and loved spending time with his family and friends. He knew no strangers on a typical night you could find him parked in his little red car at Tiger Tote socializing. Music was always a part of his life and he possessed many talents. He was a drummer and lead singer for his family band known as Nightlife! He will be greatly missed by all.
He is survived by his daughter, Christina Yvonne Ruiz; son, Elvis Lee Ruiz; grandchildren, Zaden Ruiz, Amariss Ruiz, Drayven Ruiz, Zander Ruiz, Storm Cisneros, Pierce Cisneros, Laylanny Gonzales and one great-grandchild, Isela Cisneros.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Commeracion Salas and Santos Barbontin; brothers, Eliceo P. Ruiz, Joe "Birdie" Ruiz, Jesse Ruiz and Domingo Ruiz, Sr.
Visitation will be held Thursday, February 25, 2021, 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm with the rosary to be recited at 6:30 pm at Freund Funeral Home. Funeral Mass will be held Friday, February 26, 2021, 2 pm at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church with Father Jacob Mendoza officiating. Interment will follow at Hillside Cemetery.
Pallbearers include Elvis Lee Ruiz, Zaden Blain Ruiz, Storm Konner Cisneros, Pierce Kollen Cisneros, Justin Lee Ruiz and Paul Barbontin, Sr.
