Rodney Dale Dumford, 64, of Cuero passed away May 26, 2023.  He was born March 2, 1959 in Georgetown, Ohio to Sandra Leisure and the late Ronnie S. Dumford.  Rod, better known as "Hot Rod", was a loving son, brother, husband, father, uncle and grandfather.  He was loved by many nationwide.  Rodney had his own construction company and everyone from Texas to Florida wanted his expertise.  Rod was a good-hearted man who did his best at everything.  He loved to party and ride his bike with his brothers, friends, and family.  He also had a passion for music, whether he was beating on the drums, playing the guitar or just watching live concerts on YouTube. Rod never met a stranger, loved life and always showed it with his kindness and generosity.  He will be dearly missed by many.

Rodney is survived by his wife, Melia Mayer of Cuero; stepmother, Anna Jo Reffitt of Lafayette; mother, Sandra Leisure of Elizabeth, Virginia; daughters, Hanna Dumford of Hoodsport, Washington, Rachel Elkins of Middletown, Ohio, Cindy Pierson of Loganville, Georgia, and April Al-Khabib of Arabi, Louisiana; sisters, Rhonda Barco of Chesapeake, Virginia and Rana Wilson Suffolk of Virginia; stepsisters, Sheila Abney of Lafayette, New Jersey and Sharon Abney of Mount Tabor, New Jersey; brothers, Richard Dumford of Roanoke, Virginia, Jeff Maddy of Elizabeth City, North Carolina, Jerry Maddy of Elizabeth City, North Carolina, and Bill Leisure of Chesapeake, Virginia; stepdaughter, Shala Means of Cuero; and eight grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father, Ronnie S. Dumford and brother, Rusty Dumford.

Rod's celebration of life will be held at the Cuero VFW on Sunday, June 25, 2023 beginning at 4 pm.  A reception will immediately follow with dinner being served about six o'clock. BYOB
