CUERO - Roseann Ruiz, 51, of Cuero, passed away Saturday, June 27, 2009. She was born Sept. 24, 1957, in Cuero, to Victor and Beatrice DeLaCruz. She worked for the City of Cuero for 18 ½ years as a utility clerk and was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe. She also volunteered at John C. French in Mrs. Cynthia Aleman's class of kindergartners.

She is survived by her parents; daughter, Tori Guerrero of Cuero; sons, Cpl. Michael J. Ruiz Jr. of Camp Pendleton, Calif. and PV2 Marcus J. Ruiz of Fort Lewis, Wash.; sisters, Josephine Griffen of Bryan and Tomasita Vasquez of College Station; brother, Jim DeLaCruz of Lockhart; and grandchildren, Valerie Guerrero, Matthew Guerrero II, Moses Guerrero, and Michael Ruiz III.

Visitation will be from 6-7 p.m. today, June 30, with a rosary recited from 7-8 p.m., at Freund Funeral Home in Cuero. The funeral will be 9 a.m. Wednesday, July 1 at Freund Funeral Home, with Father Kirby officiating. Interment will immediately follow at Hillside Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Maurice Williams, Michael Vasquez, Eric DeLaCruz, Donald Aleman, Trey Ruiz, and Israel Galindo.
