Roy Allen Buchhorn, 67, passed away Saturday, Oct. 31, 2009. He was born Aug. 20, 1942 to Edmund Carl Buchhorn and Gladys Willhermira Knocke at the Burns Hospital at 5:30 a.m. by Dr. G.A. King.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Norma Gallagher Buchhorn; his mother, Gladys Willhermira Knocke Buchhorn; step-daughters, Kandice Nicole Alcalais and Amanda Karri Tesch; daughter, Kathryn Gips; sister, Sandra Gail Oehlke; and grandchildren, Kasey Nicole and Jessica Johanna Alcalais, Payton James Dornak, Caleb and Halley Gips.
Preceded in death before him was his son, Bruce Allen Buchhorn, and his father, Edmund Carl Buchhorn.
Roy was a very proud and honorable man, devoted and loving husband, and a wonderful father and grandfather. He served in the U.S. Army from 1962 to 1964, stationed in Fort Hood where he was sent over seas on one mission, serving and protecting his country. Not only did he serve his country, he also served as president of Farm Bureau and Hochheim Prairie Insurance for several terms. His father Edmund raised him in the country as a rancher. Roy died at his beloved home known to him as Buchhorn Ranch that was willed back to Roy from his father upon his death. This being the same farm Roy's grandmother Buchhorn willed to Roy upon her death. The Buchhorn Ranch will live on in honor of Roy Allen and Bruce Allen Buchhorn through his wife, Norma Jean Buchhorn and close family.

Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. today, Nov. 4, 2009 at Freund Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 5, 2009 at Freund Funeral Home Chapel, officiated by Pastor William Hill. Burial will be at Lindenau Community Cemetery.
