Roy H. Nolte, Sr., 92, of Westhoff passed away Friday, June 23, 2017. He was born December 22, 1924 in Westhoff to Henry and Carrie Jurach Nolte. He married Burnice Krause on July 15, 1950 in Westhoff. Roy served in the United States Navy. He worked as a machine operator for the railroad for 38 years, and was a member of the Yorktown VFW and the Westhoff American Legion. He also was a farmer and rancher in Westhoff.
He is survived by his loving wife, Burnice; daughters, Marjorie Balusek (Larry) of Victoria and Karen Filip (Daniel) of Houston; sons, Roy H. Nolte, Jr. (Kathryn) of Victoria and Rodney Nolte (Roxann) of Katy; sisters, Carrie Mae Buchhorn of Cuero and Jeanice Turner of Victoria; brother, James Nolte of Yoakum, numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents; son, Wayne A. Nolte; and brothers, Claude Nolte and Cliff Nolte; granddaughter, Lacy Nolte Hamburg; great-grandson, Silas Nolte.
Visitation will be Sunday, June 25, 2017 from 4 to 6 p.m. at Freund Funeral Home. Services will be held Monday, June 26, 2017 at 10 a.m. at St. John's Lutheran Church in Westhoff with Reverend William Hill officiating. Interment to follow at Westhoff Cemetery.
Pallbearers are Jeffery Hurta, Dustin Filip, Matthew Nolte, Wayne Nolte, Roy Nolte III and Danny Hurta. Honorary pallbearers are Steve Nolte, Todd Nolte, Dean Taylor Filip, Patrick Hurta and Dana Elsner.
