Royce Vernon Weston passed away peacefully on September 23, 2026, at the age of 91. He was born in Westhoff, Texas on November 25, 1934.

Throughout his life, Royce built a legacy centered around family, hard work, service, education, and community. He was always willing to lend a helping hand and freely shared his knowledge, teaching and inspiring those fortunate enough to know him. Royce had a remarkable ability to make people laugh with his quick wit, and he was known for his vast knowledge of history, strong character, humility, and genuine kindness.

Royce found great joy in watching and raising cattle and could often be found repairing just about anything for anyone who needed his help. He was a lifelong learner who believed in educating himself at every opportunity. His loyalty, honesty, integrity, incredible work ethic, and passion for learning were woven into everything he did.

Above all, Royce loved his family. The lessons he taught, the stories he shared, the laughter he brought, and the example he lived will continue through the generations who were blessed to know and love him. His legacy will live on in the lives of his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, extended family, and all those whose lives he touched.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Janet Johnston Weston; his parents, Ernest and Emma (Goldman) Weston; his father- and mother-in-law, Johnny Johnston and Mary Elizabeth Keel Johnston; his siblings, Clifton Weston (Rose), Carlton Weston (Peggy), Charles (Joyce Parker) Weston, Joyce Weston Boston (Doyle), and Kenneth Weston (Vera Mae); and his son-in-law, Larry Cumby.

Royce is survived by his children, Melinda Weston Brock and husband, Bobby; Mack Weston and wife, Cathy; Melissa Weston Cumby; cousin, Gene Weston; niece, Nancy Boston Redding and husband, Garry.

He leaves behind his grandchildren, Jeremy Weston (LeAnn), Brandon Brock (Kathryn), Blake Brock (Michelle), Sara Cumby Stockton (Jason), Barrett Brock (Erin), Cassidy Weston Wendel (Michael), Alex Brock (Kosha), Austin Brock (Ashley), Jenna Weston (Gage Otterman), and Royal Cumby.

His great-grandchildren include Brier Pierce, Leighton Dworaczyk, Landon Weston, Braxton Minter, Riggs Brock, Stella Weston, Olivia Brock, Kamryn Stockton, Piper Weston, Charlotte Brock, Harrison Wendel, Augustine Wendel, Madison Stockton, Lindy Brock, Hayes Brock, and Josiah Wendel.

Royce will be remembered for the way he lived with loyalty, honesty, integrity, humility, hard work, curiosity, and a willingness to help others. His life was a testament to the lasting impact one person can have simply by being willing to teach, serve, work hard, and show up for the people he loved.

Pallbearers are Jeremy Weston, Brandon Brock, Blake Brock, Barrett Brock, Alex Brock, Austin Brock, and Royal Cumby.

Honorary pallbearers are nephews Robert Weston, Michael Weston, Doyle Redding, John Pieper, Bill Pieper, and great-grandson, Landon Weston.

A graveside service will be held on Saturday, September 26, 2026, 2:00 p.m. at Westhoff Cemetery, Highway 87, Westhoff, Texas.
