CUERO - Ruben Solis, 61, of Cuero, passed away Wednesday, June 3, 2009 at home in Cuero. He was born April, 20, 1948, in Nixon, to the late Dominga Villa and Santiago Solis. He was a technician for Mt. Vernon Mills for 31 years.

He is survived by his wife, Tonya Dromgoole-Solis of Cuero; stepdaughters, Seanté Henson and Samantha Henson; sons, Ruben Solis and wife Geraldine of Houston and Michael Solis and wife Erica of Corpus Christi; stepsons, Shanon Henson and wife Mary Jane and Nicholas Henson and wife Amanda; sister, Helen Saenz of Cuero; half-sisters, Victoria Garcia and Anita Alonzo; brothers, John Solis and Jimmy Solis, both of Cuero; and grandchildren, Alyssa Solis, Andrew Solis, and Alayna Solis, all of Houston, Merissa Solis of Yorktown, Aiden Henson of Savannah, Ga., and Julian Henson of Cuero.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and sisters, Josephine Saenz and Maricela Solis.

Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. today, June 5, 2009, with a rosary recited at 7 p.m., at Freund Funeral Home. The funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 6, 2009 at Our Lady of Guadalupe, 705 W. Broadway, in Cuero, with Father Kirby Hlavaty officiating. Interment will follow at Hillside Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Shanon Henson, Ronny Solis, Sammy Solis, Johnny Solis, Randy Saenz, and Danny Saenz.
