IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Shirley
Riemenschneider
November 30, 1951 – August 22, 2018
Shirley Gail Nesloney Riemenschneider, 66, of Cuero passed away on August 22, 2018. She was born on November 30, 1951 in Cuero to Ervin and Dorothy Luder Nesloney. On June 9, 1972 she married the love of her life Charles Riemenschneider at St Andrew's Lutheran Church in Weesatche, Texas.
Shirley's adventurous spirit flowed into every aspect in her life, from her jobs, to her traveling or her medical fiascos. She began working at a young age waitressing at different establishments. She married Charles and she returned to Cuero and worked as a florist at Kleineke Flower Shop. Later she wanted to devote her time to her children and was a wonderful housewife and mother. As the children grew older, she became involved with Home Interiors. She loved interior decorating and was everyone's go to for advice. This was not adventurous enough for her, so she went to work off-shore drilling. She loved to share stories of being hoisted from a helicopter to her J-Storm 18 Rig that she worked many hours on. After this stint, she became a dispatcher for the Dewitt County Sheriff's Office. On February 6, 1993 Shirley was held hostage while dispatching late one night by a man with three high powered rifles. The situation was resolved peacefully but only gave her the drive to do more, and at the age of 40 decided to go through Police Academy where she excelled amazingly and received the Outstanding Student Award. She then worked for many years as a Deputy for the Dewitt County Sheriff's Office again receiving Deputy of the Year award for her outstanding service. Once she retired, she thought it was too boring to sit at home, so she ran for City Council and received a chair for her precinct. She was outspoken and spoke up for what she believed in, even if it caused her to be ejected from meetings. She was a woman who God granted 9 lives and she loved to tell about them and all her near-death experiences. One of her hospital bouts she called her son in law Bryan and demanded he bring her a Whataburger as she knew she was dying and wanted that as her last meal. She pulled through and loved to tell about it. She was a strong woman who knew what she believed in and did it with honesty, integrity and true grit.
Shirley had a zest for life like no other. Her wild shenanigans and wickedly witty personality was always sure to entertain. She lived life to the fullest and always kept her head held high regardless of whatever crazy situation she gotten herself into
Above all, she was a loving wife who dearly loved her husband "Tony" of 46 years, who waited on her hand and foot because she was well worth it. Her motherly love superseded any other mothers in an insanely unexplainable way. She was the Queen Bee of our household and well...she was the Queen Bee of anywhere she was at...and she always made damn sure to let that be known real quick like.
She was the coolest mom around who defended her children to any extent deemed necessary. From tossing mustard and mayonnaise filled water balloons from the roof of the house at her teen aged daughters friends below, to horrifyingly scary rides through Black Sabbath Cemetery (way out in the sticks) at midnight with her even younger kids' friends...all the while acting like the car broke down and leaving the stranded terrified kids all alone and scared to death...LOL!!! She always made sure to create memories we would never forget, and now remember even more, that we thought we forgot.
She was a wicked awesome nanny to all of her "boys", from zip lining across jungles which ended at the ER, to blazing across the Laguna Madre fishing the flats for tailing reds and trophy trout. She never let her health stop her from enjoying life, and enjoyed to stop and tell life stories of her health.
She is survived by her wonderful husband Charles Riemenshnieder of Cuero; her two sons, David Riemenschneider of Glacier Bay, Alaska and Joshua (Brad) Finto of Austin, Texas; her two daughters, Crystal (Bryan) Irvin of Cuero and Kelly (Todd) Reed of Cuero; also, her favorite boys: Trace (Her partner in crime), Josh (Joshie Squashie), Jake (Minnow) and Trent (Lil Bit); she is also survived by her favorite sister, Debbie (Alton) Hardt of Cuero and her favorite brother E.J. (Debbie) Nesloney of Cuero.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her niece, Sharon Ann Hardt.

Pall bearers will be Josh Finto, Tek Roby, Bryan Irvin, Todd Reed, Trace Reed, Joshua Irvin, Jacob Irvin, and Darvin Borgfeld. Honorary pallbearers will be Trent Reed, RJ Gore, Jordan Blaylock, Jaida Blaylock, Jerome Johnson, and Reighn Johnson.
Sassy Shirley was a woman of the night and known to party all night long. Her extremely similar "momma's boy" son David was taught to be the same. She confessed to Crazy Dave, and other family members many many times that she wanted have her funeral at night and for Christmas lights and music to be included in her services. Her "Precious Baby Boy" created in her own personalities image, insisted beyond rebell, to have this honored. Following her visitation, service, and reception on Sunday, her burial service will be performed at 8:30pm on a beautiful hilltop outside of Cuero, at Clinton Cemetery...under the rise of the Full Moon. She wouldn't have accepted or wanted it, any other way. Glow necklaces will be handed out and it will be an eerily unusual service that will forever be remembered. We encourage all who knew her, or even if they just wanted too, to come celebrate the life of this always astonishing Diva's day...or night!
Memorial contributions may be made to help defray funeral expenses.
