Sylvia Lester, 88, of Yoakum passed away Monday, June 3, 2024.  She was born March 31, 1936 in Asheville, N.C. to Thomas and Betsy Phillips Willis.  She married James Collins Lester on June 13, 1953 in Ashville, N.C.  They moved to Texas in 1955.  She worked as a hand tooler for Double J Saddlery in Yoakum for twenty four years.  She was a member of Austin Street Baptist Church.  She enjoyed crocheting, camping, baking, gardening, canning and picking dewberries.  Her favorite family memories include watching her kids and grandchildren grow up.

She is survived by her daughter, Maxine Parr (Lesley); sons, Steven Lester (Barbara), Wayne Lester, Tony Lester and Richard Lester (Dina); brother, Willard Willis; ten grandchildren; nineteen great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband; sisters, Joann Willis and Elanor Willis and brothers, Tommy Willis, Roy Willis, and Jack Willis.

Visitation will be held Friday, June 7, 2024, from 5:00 – 7:00 PM at Freund Funeral Home.  Funeral Services will be held Saturday, June 8, 2024, 10:00 AM at Austin Street Baptist Church in Yoakum.  Interment will follow at Pilot Grove Cemetery in Yoakum.

Pallbearers include Jamie Parr, Chris Parr, Steven Lester Jr., Tim Lester, Joshua Lester, Ricardo Perez Jr., Derick Zimmerman and Shayne Parr.

Honorary pallbearers include Craig Dolan, Brendon Hagemeyer and Chris Valles.

The family would like to acknowledge the nurses, doctors and staff at Hospice of South Texas Dornburg Center of Compassion for their loving care.
