Thomas "Tommy" Gohmert, 58, of Meyersville passed away Tuesday, January 18, 2011. He was born November 11, 1952 in Cuero to Joan Gohmert and the late Charles Gohmert. He married his beloved wife of 32 years, Sandy Grafe, at St. Michael's Catholic Church on September 30, 1978. When Tommy wasn't hard at work at HB Zachary as an Electrical Sketch, he enjoyed creating wood-working masterpieces. In fact, there wasn't much of anything Tommy couldn't see and build himself. He was a wonderful husband and a proud father. He spent much of his time making sausage at the family Sausage Haus. Tommy loved exploring the outdoors through hunting, fishing, and gardening.
He is survived by his loving wife, Sandy Gohmert; daughters, Jennifer Gohmert and fiancé, Brent Coates, of Cuero and Stacey Gohmert and fiancé, Matt Nelson, also of Cuero; sisters, Karen Dueser of Yorktown and Susan Frels of Cuero; and brothers, John Lloyd Gohmert of Goliad and Bruce Gohmert of Meyersville.
He was preceded in death by his father.
Visitation will be held Thursday, January 20, 2011 from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Freund Funeral Home. Services will be held Friday, January 21, 2011, 10 a.m., at St. Johns Evangelical Lutheran Church in Meyersville with Pastor Eric Petty officiating. Interment will follow at St. Johns Evangelical Lutheran Cemetery.
Pallbearers include Cary Dueser, Brent Gohmert, Gage Liesman, Zachary Grafe, Gray Mosier, and Bryan Laxton. Honorary pallbearers include Wade Dueser, Garrett Grafe, Braylin Laxton, and Philip Brewer.
