Tilden Charles Coker Jr. passed away on Friday, October 5, 2018 with his family at his bedside at the age of 86.  Charles was born to Tilden C. Coker Sr. and Viola Mauer Coker on November 30, 1931.  On December 26, 1952 he married Peggy Dunn.  After graduating from Cuero High School where he excelled in basketball and track, and was the art editor of the Gobbler annual, Charles joined the United States Air Force.  After four years, he and Peggy returned to Cuero and he went to work for the City Electric Department where he attained the title of superintendent and was very proud of the improvements to the elecrtrical system in his 25 years.  In 1979 he left the city to become the first head of maintenance at CISD where he coordinated maintenance of the five campuses.  Upon retiring in 1995 he took up woodwork and oil painting.

Tilden is survived by his wife, Peggy; son, Larry Coker and wife, Melanie; daughter, Sheryl Rauch and husband, Mickey; grandsons, Matthew and wife, Stephanie Rauch, Marshall Rauch, and Christian Coker and wife, Kaley; great-granddaughter, Addelyn Rauch; step-grandchildren, Justin and Natalie Stehling, Hollie and Ryan Wenzel, Sara and Jordan Lassman, Caitlin Stehling, and nine great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Kenneth Coker.

Visitation will be Monday, October 8, 2018 at 10 a.m. at Freund Funeral Home.  The funeral service will begin at 11 a.m. with Elder Jeb Owen officiating.  Interment will follow at Hillside Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Matthew Rauch, Marshall Rauch, Christian Coker, Ronnie Farris, Garry Phillips, and Daryl Fowler.

Memorial contributions may be made to Stratton Primitive Baptist Church or donor's choice.
