Tommy Thomas, age 84 passed away at Cuero Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, on Saturday, February 16, 2019. Tommy was born on December 28, 1934 in Cheapside, DeWitt County to Will Thomas Jr. and Bernice Bishop Thomas. Tommy confessed his faith in Christ at an early age. He was a member of Little Zion Baptist Church and later he joined The First United Methodist Church.
On December 24, 1964, he married the love of his life, Vivian Elizabeth Gardner Thomas. Tommy and Vivian Thomas lived in Cuero, Texas and had nine children. He leaves to cherish his memory, daughters, Yvonne Gardner-Strait of Cuero, Gwendolyn (Randy)Monroe of Pflugerville, TX, Tommie (Edwin) Williams of Round Rock, TX, Angela (James)Dowell of Pflugerville, TX; Sons, Jerald Thomas of Pflugerville, TX, Ervin (Tia) Thomas of Katy, TX and Marlin (Tameka) Thomas of Manor, TX; sister, Lucy (David) Wimbish; brother, Javance Thomas both of Cuero; Sister-in-Law, Angelene Campbell of Cuero; and brother-in-law Robert Gardner of Yoakum, Texas.
Grandchildren, Cedric Strait, Patrick Cates, Rachell Cates, Chanel Cates, Paige Monroe, Destiny Williams, Gabrielle Williams, Morgan Thomas, Evin Thomas, Ryan Thomas, Braylon Thomas, Zane Thomas and twelve great-grandchildren. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins extended family and friends.
Tommy worked for Cuero Cotton Oil Mill and Alamo Lumber Company, then became an entrepreneur, of T's Bar-B-Que Square where he retired.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Vivian Thomas; son, Ernest Thomas; daughter, Cynthia Thompson; parents; sisters, Carrie Thomas, Jeraldine Thomas, Willie Thomas Blackwell, Saddie Thomas Arkadie, Bernice Thomas Stevens; Brothers, James Thomas, Leslie Thomas and Clarence Thomas.
Visitation will be Saturday, February 23, 2019, 10 am at First United Methodist Church with Funeral Services immediately following at 11 am with Rev. Lawrence Roy II officiating. Interment will follow at Hillside Cemetery.
Memorial Contributions may be made to First United Methodist Church.
