Truman Aubrey Wharton, 92, of Dallas formerly of Cuero passed away Thursday, February 7, 2013. He was born on August 8, 1920, in Belton to the late Aubrey and Mary Carberry Wharton. He married his beloved wife Ruth Mary Krause Wharton on February 20, 1941 in Comal County. He served in the Army Air Corp/Air Force from 1941-1946. He was a certified AEP mechanic that worked in pilot aircraft maintenance and rebuilt 21 small aircrafts. He worked at DuPont as a maintenance engineer. He was president of the Cuero Golf Association , owned a trucking business, and was a lifelong saltwater fishing enthusiast.
He is survived by his daughter, Joy Lynn Barnhart of Dallas; son, Kenneth D. Wharton of Austin; and grandchildren, Eric F. Koenig of Austin and Joslyn Barnhart Trager of Los Angeles.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, sisters, Doris Derrick and Mary Jo Lee; and brother, Richard Doyle Wharton.
Visitation will be held Sunday, February 10, 2013 from 5-7 p.m. at Freund Funeral Home. Services will be held Monday, February 11, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at Grace Episcopal Church with Eric Fenton officiating. Interment will follow at Hillside Cemetery.
Pallbearers include Dorian Rangnow, Sio Duderstadt, Eric Pena, Pat Elder, and Eric Koenig.
