IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Verena Doehrman
Albrecht
September 19, 1920 – February 27, 2024
Verena Doehrman Albrecht, 103, went into the waiting arms of her heavenly Father on February 27, 2024.
Verena was born September 19, 1920 in Meyersville to the late Alvin and Elenora "Nora" Hans Doehrman. She married William G. "Bill" Albrecht on November 28, 1945 and they spent fifty-one years together until Bill's passing on January 7, 1997. Three sons, Ronald, Erald and Ray were born of their union.
At Sts. Peter and Paul's Catholic Church in Meyersville, Verena became a child of God through the Sacrament of Holy Baptism, received the Sacrament of First Communion and the Sacrament of Confirmation, and also the Sacrament of Matrimony with Bill. With Verena's strong Catholic faith, attending mass regularly, and with rosary in hand, she was prepared to face life with a positive attitude, a smile on her face and love in her heart.
Verena lived through more than a century of changes. As a young girl, she helped her father with delivering meat in their Model T Ford. As a teenager and into her 20s, she worked at Isaac Egg and Sons Store in Meyersville. After her sons were old enough to attend school, she became the Cafeteria Manager at Mission Valley School for eighteen years. She was also a homemaker and helped Bill and their sons on their land raising corn, cattle, hogs, chickens and turkeys.
Verena was a great cook and made the best hot rolls and cinnamon rolls. She enjoyed sharing her recipes and skills with family and friends and even taught her grandchildren and great-grandchildren how to make homemade noodles and jelly rolls. She also loved caring for her garden and yard, making quilts, watching and playing baseball, playing the accordion, listening to polka music, dancing, playing dominoes, bridge and other games with her family and friends.
Verena loved spending time with family and friends. Whether you remember her as Verena, Aunt Hannah, Mama, Memaw, or Mrs. Albrecht, she left an everlasting impression on our lives and we will hold her in our hearts all our days.
Surviving family is sons, Ronald (Lethie) Albrecht, Erald (Betty) Albrecht and Ray (Kathy) Albrecht; seven grandchildren, Robert (Alethea) Albrecht, Billy (Missy) Albrecht, Glenn (Rachael) Albrecht, Bryan (Cindy) Albrecht, Brenda (Larrie) Brysch, Kelley (Marcus) Fulbright and Bethany (David) Schoener; thirteen great-grandchildren; one great-great grandson and numerous nieces and nephews.
Along with her parents and husband, Verena was preceded in death by her sister, Elfie Adickes and her brother, Floyd Doehrman.
Visitation will be held Sunday, March 3, 2024, 4:00 – 6:00 PM at Freund Funeral Home with a rosary to be recited at 5:30 PM. Funeral Mass will be held Monday, March 4, 2024, 10:00 AM at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church with Interment to follow.
