Verna Lee Gohmert, 94, passed away Wednesday, July 6, 2016. She was born December 11, 1921 in Lindenau to the late Joseph William and Selma Anna Boehm Till. Verna Lee married the love of her life, Newton G. Gohmert, on November 18, 1940 in Yorktown. She was a homemaker and enjoyed spending time with her family. Verna Lee was a lifelong member of St. Michael's Catholic Church, the Altar Society, the Sons of Hermann, and the Kopy Kats Klub. She is survived by her daughters, Joan Marie Flowers of Seattle, Washington and Janis Ann Pakebusch and husband, Dennis, of Cuero; sons, Donald Gohmert and wife, Jo, of Alexandria, Louisiana, Charles Gohmert and wife, Susie, of Mission Valley, Michael Gohmert and wife, Dell, of Mission Valley, and Richard Gohmert and wife, Lindy, of Cuero; 11 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents and her beloved husband. Visitation will be Friday, July 8, 2016 from 5 to 7 p.m. with a rosary beginning at 6 p.m. at Freund Funeral Home. Services will be held Saturday, July 9, 2016, 10 a.m., at St. Michael's Catholic Church with Father David Berger officiating. Interment will follow at Hillside Cemetery. Pallbearers include Steven Flowers, Todd Gohmert, Dustin Gohmert, Randall Gohmert, Clayt Gohmert, and Patrick Dionne.
