Mr. Vernell Vershon McKaine, 35, of Cuero went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, August 28, 2020.  He was born November 28, 1984 in Cuero to Walter Vernell Houston and Nellie Marie McKaine.  Vernell attended school in Cuero and accepted Christ at an early age.  He was an employee at the Cuero Livestock Commission and will truly be missed.  Vernell loved to go horseback riding and fishing. He cherished his family and friends.

He is survived by his parents, Walter Vernell Houston and Nellie Marie McKaine; sisters, Rhonda (Glenn) Thomas of Cuero and LaJoy (Edward) McKaine of Cuero; brothers, Dominic McKaine of Cuero and JayVance Thomas of Cuero.

He was preceded in death by his loving grandparents, the late Samuel McKaine /Betty Julia Mathis and Vernon Lee Barfield/Erma Olivia Houston.

Pallbearers include Treylon Harris, Michael Villarreal, Carlos Jackson, Micheal Williams, Marquis Headley and La Varren Headley.

Honorary Pallbearers include Jermaine Houston, Tre'Quan McNary and Ja'Veon McNary.

Visitation will be held Saturday, September 12, 2020, 9 am at Freund Funeral Home with funeral services beginning at 10 am with Rev. Lou Terry Jackson officiating.  Interment will follow at Lockhart Cemetery.
