Obituary

Virgil Fregia, 88, of Cuero passed away Monday, October 17, 2011. He was born on November 21, 1922 in Batson to the late John Asa and Mary Fregia. Virgil received the Good Conduct Medal after serving in the United States Coast Guard from 1941 to 1946. He was a carpenter and enjoyed many hobbies including fishing, hunting, dancing, and leather work.

He is survived by his daughters, Linda Rigby and husband, Gentry, of Shiner, Carol Pratka of Shiner, and Vikki Nixon of Livingston; special friend and companion, Betty Tomanek; grandchildren, Slade Rigby of Galveston, Kimberly Barrow of Nordheim, Kerry Fisher of Liberty, and Tom Nixon and Dalton Nixon of Conroe; great-grandchildren, Guy Alex Rigby of Corpus Christi, Lauren Barrow of Yorktown, Dillon Barrow of Nordheim, and Hayze Fisher, Holden Fisher, and Hayden Fisher, all of Hardin; and great-great-grandchild, Carter Fischer of Yorktown.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Larry Virgil Fregia; sisters, Josey Fregia Tanner, Lola Fregia Moore, and Myrtle Fregia; brothers, Otto Fregia, Dan Fregia, Walter Fregia, and Tom Fregia; and grandsons, Shane Rigby and Clint Rigby.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday, October 20, 2011, 2 p.m., at First United Methodist Church in Shiner.
