Obituary

Walter Robert 'Bob' Wagner, 85, of Cuero passed away Saturday, February 13, 2016. He was born December 1, 1930 in Cuero to the late Walter Petty and Faye Lucille Hisey Wagner. Bob married the love of his life, Billie Jo Leggett on December 30, 1950 at the First United Methodist Church in Cuero. He served in the United States Air Force from 1951 to 1958 and graduated with his Business Degree from the University of Texas in 1957. Bob served on Cuero City Council and was Police Commissioner from 1960-1964. He owned and operated Wagner Hardware from 1957 to 1989.

Bob enjoyed woodworking with mesquite; making beautiful crosses and furniture. He loved creating jewelry from stainless bolts and mesquite for his children and grandchildren. Bob treasured the time spent in Port O'Connor and Matagorda Island, beachcombing and fishing with his family. He was an avid storyteller and enjoyed sharing special memories with family and friends.

Bob is survived by his beloved wife of 65 years, Billie Leggett Wagner; sons, Robert Reed Wagner and wife, Beverly, of Cuero and Walter Richard Wagner and wife, Angelia, of San Antonio; daughter, Sandy Wagner McCampbell and husband, Ward, of Corpus Christi; grandchildren, Krista Faye Wagner Colyer and husband, Aaron, of Roswell, NM, Robert Clayton Wagner of McAllen, Sara McCampbell Smith and husband, Nowery-John III, of Corpus Christi, Elizabeth McCampbell Alexander and husband, William Clifton, of Corpus Christi, Analiese Elaine Wagner of San Antonio, Margaret Katherine McCampbell of Corpus Christi, and Abigail Jewel Wagner of San Antonio; great-grandchildren, Sarah Grace Colyer, Rebekah Faye Colyer, and Zadok Aaron Colyer, all of Roswell, NM; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Patricia Kay Wagner.

Service will begin at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, February 17, 2016 at the First United Methodist Church with Pastor Donna Martin and Aaron Colyer officiating. Interment will follow after a time of food and fellowship with the family at 1:45 p.m. at Hillside Cemetery. Pallbearers will be his nephews.
