Walter Oscar Egg, 98, of Meyersville, passed away Friday, March 4, 2011, in Yorktown. He was born Dec. 19, 1912, in Meyersville, to the late Rudolph Egg and Melanie Jacob Egg. He married Elvie Otillie Egg on Feb. 12, 1935, in Meyersville. Walter had a garage where he was a mechanic for many years, then opened a dairy before becoming a truck driver for several dairies around the area. He retired after serving as postmaster for 17 years. When Walter wasn't working you could always find him playing dominoes.
He is survived by his daughters, Barbara Mueller of Meyersville and Jeanette Pardue of Coushatta, La.; sons, Rubert Egg of Meyersville and Charles Egg of Houston; 14 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, and 16 great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and wife; sister, Lillian Doehrman; and twin brothers, Henry Egg and Isaac Egg.
Visitation will be from 5:30 to 7 p.m. on Sunday, March 6, 2011, at Freund Funeral Home. Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. on Monday, March 7, 2011, at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church in Meyersville with Pastor Eric Petty officiating. Burial will be at St. John Evangelical Cemetery.
Pallbearers include Larry Pardue, Fred A. Mueller, John W. Mueller, Greg L. Egg, Vance J. Egg, and Ryan C. Egg.
Honorary pallbearers include Kurt W. Mueller, Jeremy Egg, Matthew Egg, Timothy Egg, and Richard Egg.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Old Stone Church or donor's choice.
