Walter Lee Gawlik, 70, of Cuero, passed away Saturday, May 8, 2010. He was born May 3, 1940, in Cuero, to the late J.A. Gawlik and Ruby Gawlik. He married Joan Marie (Wilken) Gawlik on Oct. 27, 1962, in Bartelso, Ill. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and a member of American Legion. He was a retired partner in GL&L Construction.
He is survived by his wife; daughter, Lisa Sload (Robert) of The Woodlands, Theresa Hollaway (David) of Sugar Land, and Barbara Hughes (Paul) of Spring Branch; sisters, Florence Mayhew of Las Vegas and Margaret Elaine Aldridge of Dayton, Ohio; brother, Arthur Burt Gawlik of Woodsboro; and grandchildren, Geoff and Catherine Striedel, Jonathan, Eva, and Paul Sload, and Caroline and Craig Hughes.
He is preceded by his parents and brother, Jerome Gawlik.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. on Monday, May 10, 2010, at Freund Funeral Home. Graveside service will be at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, May 11, 2010, at Memory Gardens of Cuero Cemetery with Father Kirby Hlavaty officiating.
Pallbearers are Robert Sload, Jonathan Sload, David Hollaway, Geoff Striedel, Paul Hughes, and Kevin Gawlik.
Honorary pallbearers are Albert Jahnsen, Gordon Ruschhaupt, Carl West, Larry Wolf and the R.C. Modelers and Flyer buddies.
