Obituary

Walter LaVaughn Maness, 85, of Cuero, passed away April 30, 2015. He was born June 28, 1929 in Cuero to the late Walter Reid Maness and Dollie Moffett Maness May. He married Joyce May Maness May 6, 1961 in Cuero. He was in the U.S. Army and served in the Korean War. He was also a former member of Rockport Volunteer Fire Department. He worked as a heavy equipment operator in shipping building for RYSCO.

He is survived by his beloved wife; daughter, Toni (Max) Montegut of Houston; son, Michael (Ginger) Maness of Houston; sisters, Jane May of Cuero and Mae Pearl Weld of Pasadena; grandchildren, Tiffany (Montague) Morgan of Houston, Hannah and Sophie Maness of Houston, Max (Monica) Montegut of Kingwood; and great-grandchildren, Montague Morgan of Houston, Jackson Montegut and Austin Montegut both of Kingwood.

He is preceded in death by his parents; step-father, R.T. May; and sister, Marie Sinast.

There will be a Celebration of Life held at Trinity Church, on Saturday, May 2, 2015, starting at 4 pm, with Rev. Kenneth Mills officiating.

Pallbearers include David May, Charles May, James May, John May, Andrew May and Dustin May.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of South Texas or Trinity Church, Mexico Missions, in his honor.
