Obituary

Wanda Kueker Huey of Cuero, went to be with her Lord, Saturday, February 14, 2015, at the age of 82. Wanda was born September 24, 1932 to the late Robert George Kueker Sr. and Mary Laura Cunningham Kueker.

Wanda was known to her siblings, nieces, and nephews as Sister, Sito, and Tito. She was instrumental in spoiling a number of them, regularly picking them up for sodas, and off to "The Farm" to see our mother and let them freely roam. Sister loved the Kueker farm, especially all the cattle she and her sister Anna took care of, and of course, every new born received its own name. After Wanda married Ralph Huey, he quickly learned what becoming a "cattleman" meant.

Wanda graduated from Cuero High School. She later retired from Southwestern Bell after 21 years as an operator.

Wanda was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Laura Kueker; her husband, Ralph Huey; her brothers, Robert Kueker Jr., Ralph Kueker, Kenneth Kueker, and Albert Kueker; and sisters, Dorothy Matejek and Rosemary Kueker Young.

She is survived by step daughters, Mary Jo Huey Robbins (Bill) of Houston and Nancy Huey Kanter (Fred) of Lake Jackson; step son, Jimmy Huey (Sylvia) of Bay City; brothers, Capt. William Kueker (Sheila) of Albany, GA, Roy L. Kueker (Kathy) of Cuero, and Rev. John Kueker (Esther) of Buckholts; sisters, Anna K. Schlinke (Harold), Eunice K. Lee (Pat), and Betty Jo K. Afflerbach (Curtis), all of Cuero; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, February 18, 2015 from 5:00-7:00 at Freund Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held Thursday, February 19, 2015 at 11 a.m. at St. John Lutheran Church in Lindenau with Rev. Bill Hill and Rev. John Kueker officiating.

Pallbearers include Capt. William (Bill) Kueker, Rev. John Kueker, Roy L. Kueker, Harold Schlinke, Daniel Schlinke, Marlin Dawson, Jimmy Huey and Fred Kanter. Honorary pallbearers include Bill Robbins, Karaegon Johnson, Sheryl Whitfield, Rosie Blackwell, Bridget Long, Rev. Elvin & Stella Johnson, Smiley Pompa, and all nieces and nephews.

Memorial contributions may be made to WELCA at St. John Lutheran Church-Lindenau or Eric Afflerbach Scholarship Fund at First Baptist Church-Cuero.

So we say, "Goodbye Sito" from all your family and friends. We thank God for the loving, generous spirit he gave you. In the words of a nephew "what a great thoughtful person she was; she will be missed".

Our family is so grateful to our sister, Anna Schlinke, for the years of unselfish, loving care she gave to Sister.
