Wanda Woodward McWhorter, 78, of Cuero, passed away Wednesday, August 18, 2010. She was born in Kemp on June 9, 1932 to the late Elbert and Bluebell Woodward. She graduated from Sherman High School and married Glynn McWhorter on July 13, 1950 in Sherman, Texas.
Before moving to Cuero, Wanda was a title clerk at the Chrysler dealership in the Sherman/Dennison area. She then went to work for Farmers State Bank as a teller for ten years. She retired from CISD after 22 years of service as a Payroll Clerk at the Superintendent's Office. Wanda was a very faithful church member at First United Methodist Church, Cuero and belonged to the FUMC Lift Group. She was a dedicated mother, grandmother, and homemaker.
Wanda is survived by her son, Glynn Alan McWhorter; daughter, Nancy Arndt and husband Michael; sister, Sandra Cleckler and husband, Harold, of Pensacola, Florida; and grandson, Tyler Arndt.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her loving husband of 58 years.
Visitation will be held Friday, August 20, 2010 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Freund Funeral Home. Services will be held on Saturday, August 21, 2010, 10 a.m., at First United Methodist Church, Cuero with Pastor Don Snyder officiating. Burial will immediately follow at Hillside Cemetery.
Pallbearers include Michael Arndt, Tyler Arndt, Terry Gene Thornhill, BJ Drehr, Keith Parma, and Wes Dukes.
Honorary Pallbearers include Blake Afflerbach, First United Methodist Church Lift Group, Harold Cleckler, Greg Gossett, and W.A. Afflerbach.
