Obituary

Weldon Ray Goebel, 80, of Cuero passed away Sunday, July 22, 2012. He was born on October 16, 1931 in Cuero, Texas to the late Rudolph and Elfredia Ruschaupt Goebel. He married his beloved wife, Helen Finch, on June 22, 1952 at First Baptist Church in Cuero. Weldon was an active member of his community. He proudly served on the Cuero Independent School District School Board of trustees for 14 years. He was a member of the Rotary Club and Young Farmers. He supported the youth of Cuero FFA by being an active member of several buying syndicates at the Cuero Livestock Show. He served his country in the United States Air Force and worked as a pipeline operator until retirement. Weldon was especially proud of his Beefmaster Cattle. He was instrumental in the development of the All Breeds Sale that is now an annual event at the Cuero Livestock Auction.

He is survived by daughter, Cindy Henry and, husband, Randy, of Cuero; son, Stephen Goebel and wife, Michelle, of Cuero; brother, Dalhardt Goebel and wife, Rose, of Houston; grandchildren, Clay Henry, Kyle Henry, Peyton Goebel, and Parker Goebel, all of Cuero; great-grandchildren, Christian Henry and Carson Henry, both of Cuero.

He was preceded in death by parents and wife, Helen Goebel.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, July 24, 2012 from 6-8 pm, at Freund Funeral Home. Services will be held Wednesday, July 25, 2012 at 10 am at St. Mark's Lutheran Church with Pastor Barbara Beale officiating and Vicar Kristen Ulmanis assisting. Interment will follow at Hillside Cemetery.

Pallbearers include Peyton Goebel, Parker Goebel, Kyle Henry, Clay Henry, Kerry Goebel, and Morgan Goebel.

Honorary pallbearers include T.C. Simon, Alton Goebel, Fred Stoldt, Sonny Seifert, Randall Goebel, and Lee Allen Goebel.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Mark's Lutheran Church, Cuero Education Foundation, Lifeway Food Pantry, American Diabetes Association, or Donor's Choice.
