William Robert Cochran, 91, of Cuero passed away Tuesday, December 5, 2017. He was born January 10, 1926 in Sanderson to the late Carl and Jessie Green Cochran. Bill married the love of his life, Avis Marie Foster, on June 22, 1949 in Cuero. He was a United States Navy veteran serving in World War II. Bill was a lifelong rancher and retired from Texas Eastern after 33 1/2 years as Chief Dispatcher. He enjoyed skeet shooting and was a member of the Cuero Gun Club. Bill loved bowling, golfing, water skiing, and was an avid coin collector. He was also a member of the Cuero School Board, the Cuero Country Club, and First Presbyterian Church. Bill's greatest pleasures were his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, which lovingly called him, Grandaddy (Grandpaps).
He is survived by his daughters, SuSu Fischer (Mark) of Edmond, OK and Avis Ann Blain (Lovel) of Cuero; son, Bobby Cochran of Cuero; grandchildren, Buck Blain of Cuero, Avis Lynn Jalufka (Gabe) of Cuero, Amanda Rose Rickman (Clayton) of Cuero, Alexis Ann Cooper (Justin) of Cuero, Scott Fischer (Janet) of Edmond, OK, Christy Fischer Speakes (Grant) of Edmond, OK, and Shelby Cochran (Shawn) of Cuero; 16 great-grandchildren, Justin Blain, Alexandra Blain, Avis Gabrielle Jalufka, Utah Jalufka, Rancher Jalufka, Ashtyn Draper, Hunton Rickman, Daizy Rickman, Jaydie Cooper, Cash Cooper, Hope Cooper, Grace Cooper, Grant Speakes Jr., Rhett Speakes, Elle Speakes, and Cheston Barnett; and niece, Nancy Pusley (Mack).
He was preceded in death by his parents; his beloved wife; sister, Doris Harkins; and nephews, Harry and Travis Harkins.
Visitation will be Sunday, December 10, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. at Freund Funeral Home. Services will immediately follow at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Bill Cotman of First Presbyterian Church officiating. Interment will be at Hillside Cemetery.
Pallbearers include Buck Blain, Scott Fischer, Gabe Jalufka, Clayton Rickman, Justin Cooper, Grant Speakes, and Shawn Vastine. Honorary pallbearers will be his great-grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of South Texas, Comfort Keepers in Victoria, or charity of donor's choice.
