About Us
Our Story
Freund Funeral Home was founded in 1924 by Josie Freund.
In 1946, J.D. and Merle Bramlette took ownership, and “Aunt” Josie remained an important part of the funeral home until her passing in 1988.
Jay Bramlette joined the firm after graduating from mortuary school in 1972, and the business was incorporated in 1976. Following the passing of J.D. Bramlette Jr. in 1979 and Merle Bramlette in 1998, Jay became the sole owner.
Eric Draper joined the funeral home in 2005, later completing mortuary school and earning his funeral director’s license. As Jay began planning for retirement, he hoped to keep the business within the family.
In April 2010, Eric and Dawn Draper purchased Freund Funeral Home, becoming the fourth generation to continue its legacy. Today, the Drapers carry forward the long-standing traditions that have shaped the funeral home for over a century.
Freund Funeral Home is located at the corner of Gonzales and Courthouse in Cuero, Texas.
